Install Your Theme via WordPress

The following procedures will help you install your theme on your WordPress site. This is the first part of the Installation.

Prerequisites

This tutorial assumes that you have already launched a functional WordPress website and your web host have the minimum requirements to run the theme. For more information, see Installing WordPress.

Install via WordPress

Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel, and navigate to Appearance > Themes.

Click the Add New button on top of the page, then the Upload Theme button.

Click the Choose File button, find the theme file you’ve just downloaded, hit install now.

Important
Make sure the file you upload is the installable WordPress file. If you’ve downloaded the full theme package, you will not be able to install this zip as is. Instead unzip the file and you will see the installable theme file, the filename is usually the theme name, for example: if the theme is Folioway, then the file name is folioway.zip, Minilio – minilio.zip, etc. Sometimes the file name has a version number followed, for example, folioway-3.0.299.749.zip.

Once the installation process done, click on Activate.
